Tarah combines professional training with deep lived experience to provide compassionate, practical care for autistic individuals, children, adolescents, and their families. Becoming a parent as a teen and navigating years of single parenting, advocacy, and hands-on intervention for her children’s developmental needs shaped her commitment to preventing misdiagnosis and ensuring families receive evidence-based supports and clear guidance. Tarah holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Wisconsin–Superior and has worked across outpatient therapy, day treatment, ABA settings, and trauma-informed care.
After receiving a formal autism diagnosis in 2021, Tarah pursued a professional specialization in autism to better integrate clinical expertise with her personal insights. She has led student organizations supporting veterans, nontraditional students, and parents and brings experience in kinship care, system navigation, and multidisciplinary program design to her practice. At Bears Counseling, Tarah centers her practice around nonjudgmental listening, empowerment, partnering with clients to build realistic goals, promoting self-compassion, and connecting families to the resources they need.
